Working from home – an opportunity for the shy?
Working from home has been with us since the start of the pandemic. Previously often and vehemently demanded, but implemented by only a few companies, it has now become the norm in many areas outside of production. And from January 27, it is even mandatory to offer a home office workplace as part of the Corona Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance. Of course, there are many exceptions from a legal point of view, but there is no doubt that this regulation will lead to an even greater increase in home office workplaces than before, especially for companies that have previously avoided this.
But how do shy employees fare when working from home? What impact does working from home have on people who were not in the front row in normal office life? Extroverts often shine with their spontaneous ideas, they need the stage to shine. They shine when they are in a group of people, breathe in this atmosphere and are on top form. And naturally outshine the shy ones. This advantage fades into the background when working from home and the more two-dimensional platform that comes with it – a potential opportunity for people who are naturally more reserved.
